Our classes are divided by levels, and they are based on a student-centred approach (which means that each student's personal needs, strengths, and goals inform the way that the curriculum is taught). Each class is 1.15 hours long and includes warm up and mobility exercises, work on the apparatus (silks, straps, lyra), conditioning, and cool down/stretching exercises.
Class types and details:
Term classes run for 12 weeks.
Each class has a ratio of no more than 8 students per instructor.
The introduction courses run for 6 weeks, each session is one hour long, once a week.
Our new “Aerial flow and balance” class is 60 minutes long, and has a max. of 6 students per instructor.

Introduction to Aerial Silks
Wednesdays 6:00 to 7:00pm Studio 2
The 6 week short courses are currently taught by Jess. Introducing students to aerials in a fun, safe, supportive environment, alongside other “new to silks” students. You will get a feel for aerials, and learn fundamentals including hanging from your hands and going upside down. This courses are a must for beginning the aerial arts journey.
This course is also recommended for students who may have previously dabbled in aerials, but have less than 3 months of consistent weekly class experience.

Aerial Silks Beginner
Tuesday 6 - 7:15 pm, Studio 2.
Building upon the intro course, the aim of the beginner class is to work towards a comprehensive understanding of aerial silks’ basics. Learn moves and sequences, while developing strength and body awareness in a fun and supportive environment. This class is suitable for students who have approximately less than 1 year of experience* and those who have attended one of our intro classes.

Aerial Silks Intermediate
Thursday 7:15 – 8:30pm, Studio 1.
Students will build on the foundations learnt in the beginner class. Class will work on developing stamina, complex sequences and drops, and routine creation.
Individual creativity is encouraged and strength, flexibility and mobility exercises are included in each class. For students after approximately 1 year of consistent practice. This class includes complex silks content therefore some prerequisites are in place.
Aerial Silks Mixed Level
Saturdays 9:15 -10:30am, studio 2.
Ages 13+
This mixed level class is for beginners to advanced beginner students. Learn moves and sequences, while developing strength and body awareness in a fun and supportive environment. This class is suitable for students who have completed an intro course to those more experienced.
Aerial Silks Advanced
Thursday 6:00 - 7:15pm, Studio 1.
Assisting our students to become autonomous and creative with their aerial artistry. This class’ focus is in the development of ease and control, utilizing elements of texture as well as body and movement expression. Supporting students to find their own style while developing new skills. This class is for students who have consistent years of aerial practice. This class includes advanced silks content therefore some prerequisites are in place.
Bars: Aerial Hoop / Lyra
Intermediate Wednesday 7:00 to 8:15 pm
Aerial Hoop is the funnest way to get fit in Auckland! Also known as “Lyra”, aerial hoop is a spinning, steel circle suspended from the ceiling. You’ll learn to climb, dangle and dance on the Lyra in ways that showcase strength, flexibility and grace. Previous experience necessary for Saturday class.
Aerial hoop classes will help you to develop stamina, coordination and confidence with heights. At the same time you’ll be spinning to your heart’s content, all while striking instagram-worthy poses. Aerial Hoop is the perfect class for people wanting to create a more active and adventurous lifestyle.
Bars: Dance Trapeze
Intermediate Wednesdays 7:00 to 8:15pm
Learn to flow and create beautiful shapes on a low, spinning trapeze. Challenge your brain with intricate wraps, winding your way around the ropes and bar. Each class you’ll build strength, learn new sequences and develop fluidity in the air.
Dance trapeze draws on technique from many aerial apparatus including aerial silks, aerial hoop, corde lisse and static trapeze. It began to be explored by contemporary dancers in the 1970’s and has a rich history of connecting circus and dance.
Previous experience of 6months+ in aerials is required
Aerial Flow and Balance
Currently only private classes for up to 6 people, contact us to book.
Drawing from somatic movement, aerial yoga, and Pilates, this class has been designed to promote functional movement, joint mobility, core strength and balance.
We combine ground based movement with the use of the aerial hammock as a tool to assist the flow of carefully developed sequences. Each class will be adapted to focus on core strength, mobility, and/or restorative movement depending on the group. This class is open to anyone who is interested, no previous experience is necessary. Ages 16+, every body is welcome. Please get in touch with any questions.

Open Training

For Aracnation students to practice content learnt during classes. Individual students’ require confirmation from their teachers before joining open training (OT). As supervision on the day is limited, students must be comfortable and safe to carry out self directed training.
Professionals and students from outside Aracnation are welcome, with the understanding that Aracnation is not responsible for the personal safety of participants. Pre-approval and bookings are absolutely necessary.
